On Friday May 14, 2021. Aflredo P. Semeraro, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 94 at his home in New Port Richey, FL. Fred was born on May 10, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY. He married Lillian T. Amodio on June 2, 1956. They were married for 65 years. Fred is survived by his wife Lillian, his son Gary (Jody), daughter Suzanne (Henry Pfendt), and his son Paul (Jennifer). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Megan & Matthew Semeraro, and Lauren and Julianne Pfendt.
Formerly of Massapequa, LI, NY Fred relocated to New Port Richey in 1995 where he lived an active lifestyle in the Timber Greens community for his remaining years. An avid card player Fred could often be found spending the afternoon with friends around a pinocle table in the Timber Greens clubhouse.
Fred was a proud World War II veteran where he served in the 337th Field Artillery Battalion of the US Army. His rank was Private First Class. He often told the story of how the army granted him permission to graduate from New York School of Printing in Manhattan before reporting for duty. As a member of the Greatest Generation, Fred was never boastful about serving, but like so many others he embraced his role in the Army defending America. He was commissioned to Europe where he mainly served in Italy and Germany.
After the War he returned to NYC where he started a successful business with his brother Albert, his only surviving sibling. He spent his career in the flooring and carpeting business and continued to work alongside his brother until he retired. He was passionate about his business and loved what he did for a living for over 40 years.
In his retirement years Fred was an active member of the Timber Greens community. He was also an avid traveler and enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday June 11, 2021 at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, New Port Richey FL at 11AM. Internment will follow in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell at 1:30. A celebration of life will follow at Timber Greens Country Club at 3:30. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations may be sent to St Jude Children's Research Hospital. (www.stjude.org)
