Angelica “Angie” Font, 92, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, surrounded byher loving family. Angelica was born on April 7, 1932 in Mantanzas, Cuba to Maria and Manuel Zaragoza Garcia. She is preceded in death by her brother, Manuel Garcia Zaragoza. She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Dr. Ruben Font, her daughters, Mary Herrmann, Hilda Martin, and Lisa Carey, her son-in-laws, Kevin Martin and Michael Carey, as well as her six grandchildren, Maxwell, Katie, Benjamin, Emma, Sean, and Olivia.
Angelica and Ruben were married on December 15, 1956, and their love story spanned over eight decades, beginning as teenagers in Cuba. Their dream was always to move to the United States and after their honeymoon, Angelica and Ruben moved to Illinois where their three daughters were born. They then moved to Florida where they ultimately settled for nearly 45 years. Angelica earned her degree from the University of Havana and was a teacher in Cuba.
She was the ultimate mother and grandmother to her three daughters and her six grandchildren. In addition, she was the caretaker to her mother, cousins, aunts, and uncles as they emigrated from Cuba. Throughout her life, she was a devoted participant in the Catholic church and continuously volunteered for various organizations.
Loved ones are honored to hang Angelica’s knit Christmas stockings each year and will miss visits sharing her acclaimed flan. She and Ruben enjoyed exploring the world together and shared their love of travel with their family.
The family invites relatives and friends to a Catholic Mass at 11am on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Our Lady Queen of Peace in New Port Richey, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to HPH Hospice, whose team was responsible for Angelica’s loving and caring support in her final years.
