Donald E. Hilbert

DONALD EDGAR HILBERT 88, of New Port Richey, Fl formerly of La Crosse Wisconsin peacefully left the confines of this life to walk freely again with the Lord in heaven on July 5, 2014 at Madison Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was born in La Crosse July 5, 1926 to Anna and Carl Hilbert. There he met and married Elizabeth Sullivan January 18th, 1947. They lived there until permanently relocating to New Port Richey in 2009. He retired from Northern States Power Company (Xcel Energy) after 40 years of service. He loved to hunt and fish and when not in the woods hunting or on the shores of the Mississippi fishing he would be with his friends at the local rifle range. Everyone who knew him knew he was the happiest in the woods and marshes of the coulee region. Donald is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth; daughters Donna (Donald) Furlano of Crystal Lake, Ill., Susan (Donald) Hunter, and Jeanne Southworth of New Port Richey, Fl.; brother Wyman of La Crosse, Wi.; brother-in-law Ed Sullivan and family of Onalaska, Wi; 4 grandchildren, Don, Dave, Deanna, and Shannon; 2 great-grand children, Matthew and Karl; nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, Donald is preceded in death by his sisters Anita and Bernice and stillborn son John. Memorial masses for Donald will be held in Florida, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
