Elizabeth Mary Wheeler Stanhope of Hudson, FL, passed away on Aug 8, 2018 at the age of 96. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on Nov 6, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Frank and Irene C. (Albaugh) Wheeler. She was the second of seven children. After high school she completed nurses training and worked as a Registered Nurse until her marriage. She married Thomas F. Stanhope in 1947 and moved to Aliquippa, PA where they raised their family. When the children were older, she returned to nursing at a skilled nursing facility in Aliquippa, PA. After retirement Elizabeth and Thomas moved to New Port Richey in 1983. Elizabeth was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace R.C. Church and was active in the St. Vincent De Paul Society. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Thomas, a daughter, Janet L. Gray, and two sons-in-law, James Blair and David Macerelli. Elizabeth is survived by three sons and four daughters: Mary E. Macerelli of Blakeslee PA, Barbara A. (Thomas) D’Annibale of Fairfax VA, Thomas F. (Janet) Stanhope Jr. of New Port Richey FL, Laura J. Blair of Imperial PA, Irene C. (Daniel) Hickey of Batavia NY, James F. (Mary) Stanhope of Plymouth MI, John A. (Mary) Stanhope of Canton GA, and a son-in-law Timothy S. Gray of Aliquippa PA. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a sister Catherine Courtwright of Mahwah NJ, two sisters-in-law: Rose (Sweeney) Wheeler of Verona PA and Joan (Werneth) Wheeler of Virginia Beach VA, and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was always a very active member of the Greatest Generation and an inspiration to her family until the day of her death. She is sorely missed by her family and friends.
