Elmer C. Galloway

January 26, 1931 — August 13, 2018

Elmer C. (Sonny) Galloway of New Port Richey, FL, passed away on August 13, 2018 at the age of 87. He was born in Camden, South Carolina on January 26, 1931 and was the son of the late Wallace A. and Blanch Galloway. He was the youngest of five children. Elmer graduated from Antioch High School in 1950 and joined the Army where he served two tours in Vietnam and was with the 101st Airborne and 82nd Airborne Divisions. He was awarded several medals and was a Purple Heart Recipient. His last assignment before retiring was Top Sergeant at West Point. He and his wife Terri moved to Port Richey, Florida and remained in Florida until his death. Elmer went on to get his bachelor’s degree and worked for the State of Florida for twenty years. He was predeceased by his wife Terri Galloway. Elmer was survived by his son Daniel Chance Galloway and daughter-in-law Dee Dee Galloway who serve as Missionaries in Bulgaria. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and three nephews. He was a former member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Camden, South Carolina, a Master Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and a Shriner. Elmer was very active in his community and loved to play golf. He will be greatly missed by family and fiends.
