On Jan 6, 2017, Gloria Jean McManus (Nelson), 84, of New Port Richey, Florida passed peacefully at home after a protracted illness.
Gloria was born September 2, 1932 in Brockton, MA. The second youngest of 8 children. She is survived by brothers Richard and Ray and Sister Mildred Bowker.
Gloria married Robert McManus and as a devoted mother, happily raised 5 children. She was a cashier at SoLo Market in Hull for many years. After Robert’s death in 1978 she moved to Florida in 1983. She went to work for and retired from Bank of America. Then she and daughter Jan worked for Legendary Journeys, which allowed them to travel the world. Some of their favorite spots to visit were Italy and China.
Along with her love of travel and family visits, Gloria also loved to read, knit, and crochet, along with playing cribbage.
She is survived by sons, Robert Jr. and wife Michele from Michigan, Kevin and wife Rhonda from Florida, Steven from Massachusetts, daughter Karen and partner Beth from Minnesota, plus seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Robert Kevin McManus Sr. and daughter Jan Marie McManus.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 8320 Old County Rd., New Port Richey, Florida 34653 on Thursday January 19, 2017 at 10:30 A.M.
