Helen May (Davies) Vangsness, of New Port Richey, FL and a former long-time resident of Westfield and Auburn, MA, died Monday, November 20th, 2017 at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point in Hudson, FL from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on November 11th. She was 77 years old.
Helen was born in Long Branch, New Jersey to Blanche Brooks and Albert Davies. She is predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Kenneth E. Vangsness and survived by her children Cheryll L. (Vangsness) and her husband Ken Dupree of N. Attleboro, MA, Scott A. Vangsness of Worcester, MA, Sharon K. (Vangsness) Lavallee-Lawrence of Dover, DE, and Kristen A. Vangsness of Auburn, MA; grandchildren Matthew R. Lavallee of Oxford, MA and Amber L. Lawrence of Dover, DE; sister Greta (Maki) and her husband Stephen Zielinski of West Springfield, MA, and four brothers and their wives: Ronald and Marguerite Davies of New Port Richey, FL, Thomas and Patricia Davies of Waterbury, CT, Albert and Janet Davies of Springfield, MA, and William and Colleen Maki of Vernon, CT.
Helen enjoyed a 30 year career with New England Telephone Company/NYNEX as a sales manager. After retiring, she had a second career as a realtor for Century 21 Maher Realty in Auburn for more than 20 years where she received multiple achievement awards. The family is planning a celebration of life and private burial.
