James O’Toole, 97, of Trinity, Florida passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019 in Trinity, Florida.
A memorial service will be held on May 3rd at 10:30 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in New Port Richey, FL. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Care, 384 15th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL. 33705 (http://svdpccsp.org/memorials.htm).
James was born on July 23, 1921 in Kishavanna, Carbury, County Kildare, Ireland to Nicholas and Margaret (McCormack) O’Toole. On July 28, 1951 he married the former Jeanette Dorothy Monaghan in London, England. James worked in London, England and Toronto, Canada before emigrating to Syracuse, New York in 1955. In Syracuse, he was employed by the Nettleton Shoe Company and Carrier Corporation before working for the Dairylea Cooperative. He retired to New Port Richey, Florida in 1988. In retirement he enjoyed traveling and spending time with family in Florida, New York, North Carolina, Ireland, England and Canada. He especially enjoyed spending time with his daughters, sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews. James was a faithful communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in New Port Richey, FL.
James is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jeanette O’Toole, his five daughters, Marie DeMaso and her husband Joe of New Port Richey, FL, Margaret Barry of Hope Mills, NC, Susan Schoof and her husband Pat of Whitney Point, NY, Sheila Curr of Oldsmar, FL, Patricia Renwick and her husband Rick of Trinity, FL as well as his two sons Donald O’Toole and his wife Elizabeth of Brooklyn, NY and Kevin O’Toole and his wife Valerie of Syracuse, NY. He is survived by his grandchildren Eva Marie Philpot and her husband Jason, Brian DeMaso, Devin O’Toole and his wife Katie, Kaylyn Schoof, Matthew Curr, Courtney O’Toole, Kevin Barry and John Barry. He is also survived by his two great-grandsons Kai Philpot and Colten Philpot and his great-granddaughter Casey Staschak and her husband William. James was blessed with a great-great-grandson, William Staschak Jr., earlier this year.
