Passed away on August 11, 2020 at the age of 93. Born in Buffalo, NY on September 24, 1926 to the late John and Katherine Palgutt; predeceased by his wife of 69 years Natalie Gryta; two brothers Stephan and John; and four sisters Mary Palgutt, Ann Billica, Dorothy Wikierski, and Irene Brunner. He is survived by his three children, Kevin Palgutt, Larry Palgutt, and Pamela (Palgutt) DiNardo; his eight grandchildren, Susan (Palgutt) Carter, John Palgutt, Marietta (Palgutt) Groh, Caroline Palgutt, Joseph Palgutt, Andrea Palgutt, Zachery Palgutt, and Nicholas DiNardo; eight great-grandchildren, Kiera Carter, Bryce Carter, Cameron Carter, Bernadette Groh, Watson (Sonny) Groh, and Emma Palgutt.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the South Pacific from 1944 to 1946 seeing action in all major campaigns. After returning from Honorable Service he married Natalie and they settled in the Town of Tonawanda. He was employed by Dunlop Tire Company where he worked for 36 years until retirement. He was an active member in the Brighton Volunteer Fire Company for many years. After retirement and 61 years in Buffalo/Tonawanda, NY, he moved with his wife to New Port Richey, Florida, where he became very active with the Knights of Columbus Father Felix Council, eventually achieving 4th Degree Sir Knight status.
A visitation will be held Monday, August 17, 2020 from 9-9:30 am at Morgan Funeral Home, 6025 Trouble Creek Road, New Port Richey, Florida 34653, www.morganfuneralhome.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am on Monday, August 17 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 8320 Old County Road 54, New Port Richey, Florida. Internment with full military honors will be 11:00 am Tuesday, August 18 at Florida National Veterans Cemetery, Hernando County, Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a contribution to The Salvation Army in his memory.
