Larry Joseph Sitek, of New Port Richey, was called home on May 2, 2015 at the age of 62. Born in Michigan, he moved down to Florida in the seventies and had lived in New Port Richey for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen. Larry is survived by his wife, Natalie, his three children Amanda Stewart (Abraham) of Wesley Chapel, Jessica Haider (Jeremy) and Jessica Meredith (Eric), also of New Port Richey, four beautiful grandsons, three sisters, Lynn Sitek (Gary) of Southgate, MI, Patricia Derry (Chuck) of Dexter, MI, and Margaret Hardwick (James) of China, MI, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Larry worked in the restaurant business for most of his life, most notably with Sonny’s BBQ. After working several years at the Palm Harbor location, Larry helped to open the New Port Richey location in 1998, with one of his childhood friends, Paul. He loved all sports, and spent a lot of his time cheering on his Tampa Bay teams. Being from the Detroit area, his love of hockey started young, and he made sure to instill that same love of game in his family, all Tampa Bay Lightning fans. Larry was there in the arena when the Bolts won the cup in 2004. He was an excellent golfer but played every sport throughout his life.
Larry could always be counted on to bring a smile to anyone’s face. He was full of good humor and had a sharp wit. He sang out loud. He wanted to teach whatever he knew to whoever wanted to learn and he always strived to learn more himself. He gave sound advice to family, friends, and employees who needed guidance. He told his family that he had no regrets and that he lived a full and happy life. He adored his grandsons, cherished his daughters, and loved his wife with everything he had. He will always be loved and never be forgotten.
