Nathaniel Levi Henry, born on August 10, 1988, in Olathe, Kansas, left this world far too soon on December 26, 2024. He was a beloved son to Bill and Jayne Henry and a cherished brother to Tiffany and her husband Johnny. Number one Uncle to Kali, Gunnar and Alarik. Nathaniel's life was a tapestry woven with love for his family and friends, and an insatiable passion for adventure.
From an early age, Nathan demonstrated an extraordinary zest for life that would define him throughout his years. His heart belonged to music; he played both electric and acoustic guitar with the same fervor as his bow would glide over the strings of his violin. Music was not just a hobby but a means through which he expressed himself—often singing softly when he felt others couldn't hear him or enjoying sound engineering endeavors when he had a quiet moment.
Nathan graduated from Northwest High School, Olathe, KS in 2006. Two years at Johnson County Community College. He achieved his Engineering Bachelors from KState in Manhattan, KS where he had a turn as president of Parachute Club. After graduation, Nate was recruited by Cessna, a division of Textron Aviation in Wichita, KS where he also earned his Masters in Business from Wichita State. He continued to hone his talent with computer programming classes. Nathan was a Senior Software Engineer at Tru Simulation in Tampa. Nathan LOVED his job.....
A proud Eagle Scout who embraced the outdoors wholeheartedly, Nathan found joy in hiking trails under vast skies and riding competitively on his Yamaha R1 motorcycle. His adventurous spirit led him to become an avid skydiver at times in his wingsuit with over 1,400 jumps under his belt—including one unforgettable leap into history as part of the world's largest nude formation jump. Whether soaring from planes or capturing breathtaking landscapes through photography and videography, Nathaniel lived each moment fully.
His commitment extended beyond personal pursuits; while working at Cessna in Wichita, he dedicated time to mentoring youth through the Big Brother Big Sister program—a testament to his compassionate nature.
An intellectual thinker who often engaged in deep conversations about philosophy and strategy while holding strong libertarian values alongside unwavering patriotism made him not only insightful but also influential among friends and peers alike. Even with all his acomplishments and natural talents Nathan retained humility (stage 4 cancer
He had recently invented a program designed specifically to aid fellow skydivers—a reflection of how deeply he cared about those around him and how deeply he invested in his passions.
Despite facing the formidable challenge of metastatic melanoma with courage, not many knew of his battle with cancer having been diagnosed 6 years ago. Nathan remained steadfastly focused on what mattered most: spending precious moments with family during Christmas, which he had requested days before moving to hospice. In true Nathan fashion, he accomplished his goal of being close to his family for the holidays.
The loss of such an incredible soul leaves behind profound sorrow within all whose lives were touched by Nathaniel’s kindness and adventurous spirit. A warrior at heart until the very end—his legacy will continue through memories shared amongst loved ones along with his beautiful, infectious smile!
Details regarding the Celebrations of Life in both Florida and Kansas City will be announced shortly via updates posted on his memorial website; we invite all those whose lives intersected with Nathaniel's remarkable journey to join us in honoring this extraordinary man who brought light into our world—and whose absence will forever be felt deeply by many.
May the blue skies be yours forever Safety Nate.
