Simone T. Girouard —Wife, Mother, Grandmother—died on December 23, 2019 in New Port Richey, Florida, after a long illness. She was 84.
Simone was born in Nashua, NH on February 9, 1935 to Lilliane and Paul Lachance. She lived on Chandler Street in Nashua with her family until she met and married her husband Roland R. Girouard in 1955. She was a devoted stay-at-home mom and raised her family in Nashua. She held various jobs along the way, but concentrated her efforts in raising her family and spending her time with her immediate and extended family and with her Grandson. Simone and Roland moved to New Port Richey, Florida in 2005 where they enjoyed their retirement years and were able to be close to their son Peter. Simone lived with her daughter Diane and Son-in-law Matt from 2016 to 2019, and in 2019 lived her final year at Trinity Regional Rehab where she was well cared for and visited each day by a family member and loved by her aids and nurses.
Simone spent her life devoted to her family. She is survived by her two children and their families - her son, Peter Girouard and life partner Barry Crites - and her daughter Diane Waldron and her husband Matt. She is also survived by her Grandson Chad Girouard, his wife Trisha, and her great-grandchildren Erin Girouard and Alexis Girouard. She is pre-deceased by her Husband Roland, and daughter Lynette Girouard. She is also survived by her sister Fleurette Lavoie, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Throughout her life Simone’s favorite things were spending time with her immediate and extended family, camping, playing cards, travelling to Florida, and the beach. She loved the sunshine and warmth. She was always on the go and was always ready to go wherever and whenever she could.
Simone will be remembered for her love of family, her sense of humor (especially when playing cards) her drive to “get things done” and her courage during Roland’s and her later years.
