Virginia LaVerne Florance Wardlaw, born October 20, 1919 in Dallas, Texas. She passed away on October 19, 2018, one day before her 99th birthday. LaVerne was married to Thomas Lamar Wardlaw, Jr. on May 5, 1940. She was 99 years old. LaVerne was a born again Christian who loved the Lord and He has taken her home to be with Him.
LaVerne had many accomplishments in her life, from her tomboy days of skating around her neighborhood and climbing trees, to dancing in a dance group and doing some modeling. She took flying lessons from pilot instructor Tom Wardlaw, who was later to become her husband. She learned to fly and she did her solo flight under his instruction. After marriage they lived in Kansas City, Missouri where he was a pilot for TWA. She taught children’s Bible classes under Child Evangelism Fellowship and also taught childrens’ classes at church. It was through Child Evangelism that her children became Christians.
After marriage her husband Thomas went into the ministry after going to school at Kansas City Bible College. They were to lead several different churches from Kansas City, Missouri to Wallula, Kansas.
LaVerne and Tom had three children, Sylvia Diane Wardlaw of Florida, Sharon Yvonne (Wardlaw) Dalley of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Thomas Lamar Wardlaw, III of Florida.
LaVerne will be missed by many, especially her three children, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
