Thomas Frederick Von Hoven, 85, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away January 21, 2017 at home in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
Visitation will be held at Morgan Funeral Home in New Port Richey, Florida on January 23, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
Military Funeral Honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery on January 24, 2017 at 3:00 pm.
Tom was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Frederick and Alice Von Hoven on October 31, 1931. He went to St Xavier High School and graduated in 1949. He went on to Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio until he was drafted and dedicated his life to helping others. He was a Vietnam Veteran and retired after a distinguished 30 year career as a Corpsman in the United States Navy. For the next 10 years, he continued his career as a Merchant Marine and Medical Services Officer for the Military Sealift Command.
He loved watching football and eating his ice cream. Always smiling, he was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He touched everyone he met and never met a stranger.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Alice; brother Ronald Von Hoven. He is survived by his wife Reiko Von Hoven, son Richard Von Hoven (Cassie Von Hoven) and 2 daughters, Tami Von Hoven (Jason Wardlow) and June Von Hoven (Joey Tran) his brother Robert Von Hoven. His grandchildren, Colby Patterson, Jamie Von Hoven, Corey Moss, Marissa Norman, Mitchell Wardlow (Alejandra Uriostegui), Matthew Wardlow, Kristina Wardlow, Jessica Von Hoven, and Jacob Tran. Great grandchild Conor Wardlow. He was loved by all and a hero to us. He will live in our hearts forever.
